The AAAI.UTA General Meeting for Fall 2010 seemed to go well! About 20 people showed, which for a non-major speaker is a good number, there were punch and pie, and everyone seemed to have fun!

Have idea for November meeting
The general meeting for October was a success! The CSE dept provided pizza, which Tim and John picked up, and Tim and Baron tag teamed a presentation that went from the business updates all the way to talking about Infinite Mario A.I. There were quite a few supporters (easily our largest gathering yet, never underestimate the power of pizza), and we look forward to November! John took pics with Tim’s phone, so whenever Tim gets around to it he could put those pics on Facebook or something… that would be neat.
Today the AAAI folks meet for the first time in “Summer”. Long time indeed without doing anything….except brainstorming on individual level….
Today’s meet was more casual as it took place in the Arlington’s Downtown CoffeeHaus. Tim, John, Kartik & Himanshu made it to the meeting. After much brain storming we discussed the AAAI@UTA’s achievement/s during summer & also charted out the road ahead during the Fall semester.
Achievements of Summer Semester :
AAAI@UTA has managed to get it’s own office which it has to share with the Game Development club as of now.
The office will be setup at the earliest & soon will be functional.
The plans for the Fall semester is :
August :- Participation in the Activity Fair date of which will soon be announced.
September / October :- Inviting distinguishable speakers to present some papers related to the AI field.
November / December :- Members giving presentations which if possible to get those certified so, that those presentations may be attended by Freshmen & it may also cater to their degree requirement.
John’s Brilliant proposal for a project – John also came up with a brilliant proposal to “Make a robot do the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new building coming up for the C.S. dept. of UTA”.
Tim also proposed BlimpDuino as a compensate the UAV project.
Various fund raising opportunities were also discussed.
COOKIES.
Much hilarity at Tim and his umbrella.
Started voting for positions… in a very unofficial way. Currently it’s Tim vs. Richard for President, Baron vs. John for VP, Kartik for Secretary, Loser 1 vs. Loser 2 for Treasurer.
Voting for President: Tim 4, Richard 2
Voting for VP: Baron 4, John 2
Voting for Secretary: Kartik 6
Treasurer: Richard 4, John 2
Motion for new Executive Position: Project Coordinator? Tim mumbles. Historian? Eh. We’ll decide over the summer. Whatever it is, John is it.
Review of the past semester:
We were part of the Activities Fair! Also, John ahemed at Richard to get pictures from the activities fair.
UAV Project:
1 plane working
Baron and Kartik rock
They did lots of lab cleaning
Obesity Accelerometers:
Talked to the people from kinesiology, discussed future plans
Other:
Got the snake assembled and controllable, created the blog (which you are reading, aren’t you lucky)
All in all, an eventful semester. Oh yeah, saved the world from an alien invasion using robots.
Summer goals:
By the end of the summer, have an office?
At some point layout fall and spring semester plans
Continue to work with the UAV project
Work out meeting times with ACM
Snake: Start developing behavior, reactions, integrate camera, get it actually mounted
Lab: would like to get an actual computer for developing our projects, either here in the AI Lab or maybe in the future office?
PIZZA
The 29th. At noon. In the AI lab.
Voting for positions. I believe Tim is going for President, Richard might still be going for VP (though Baron may challenge him!) and Kartik is going for secretary.
Hi All,
It’ll be good if we all will give an update to our AAAI@UTA members on what projects every member is associated with & the progress made in each of them.
Thank You.
We set us up the blog (lol), giving memberships to Tim, John, Baron and Kartik.
Talked about the UAV group.
Talked about setting up a series of panel discussions.
Set up special meeting on the 29th to vote for leadership for Fall semester. If you want to be a candidate, speak up by the 22nd, we’ll publish the list of candidates later that day and have a vote on the 29th.
We might add a Project Czar position.
