KIDS Camp - Day 2: TOUCHDOWN!

August 4, 2009

Another successful day went by at the Knowledge and Innovation Development for Students Camp! We are really enjoying the sort of creativity that comes from our campers. It’s so interesting to see what comes about when we hand them the tools, like graphic design software or video editing software. With just a few foundational points the students figured out all of the software features with such a competence that our instructors were baffled to find themselves being taught rather than solely being the teacher. Take a look at some pictures from Day 2:

KIDS Camp - Day 1: HOMERUN!

August 3, 2009

Today was the kick off of the AITP-UTA Knowledge and Innovation Development for Students (KIDS) Camp! We all had a great time pouring into the Arlington youth. They are bright kids and they continue to surprise us with how quickly they catch on to what some would consider to be deeply abstract concepts. Check out some pictures from the event below:

Call for KIDS Camp Volunteers

July 3, 2009

Starting off the month of August, students of the AITP-UTA chapter will be giving back to the community.  In our first, and hope to be annual, Knowledge and Innovation Development for Students (KIDS) Camp, we hope to offer opportunities to young and underprivileged students by helping them learn and leverage the technology around them to their advantage.  This year will be our pilot and we need as much help as we can get.  The members and alumni of AITP-UTA have developed a volunteer form to help us keep track of those who will work alongside us in this endeavor.  Please check out the form and let us know you will be working with us!

AITP Heroes represent UTA at NCC

March 31, 2008

UT Arlington was represented by three student members at this weekend’s AITP National Collegiate Conference in Memphis, Tennessee. Burin Asavesna, Armando Hernandez, and John Jelinek made the trip across the Mississippi river to participate in IT competitions, learn from a great panel of speakers and enjoy the lively Memphis scene. The group made a strong showing in competitions that ranged from banner design to PC Troubleshooting. Burin Asavesna and Armando Hernandez earned a 3rd Place finish in Systems Analysis and Design, beating out over 20 other teams from across the nation. Next year’s event will be held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and will provide the perfect opportunity to build on this year’s success.
