3:30 p.m. in the Lone Star Auditorium (Maverick Activities Center)
The Hooding of a MA candidate is a symbolic experience signifying the passage from student to master from a member of your department’s graduate Faculty. A reception with hors d’oeuvres will follow. Candidates and Faculty will walk to commencement together following the ceremony.

Fall 2013 Hooding Ceremony
Faculty representing their academic units formally hooded 27 MA candidates on December 14, 2013. After a small reception, faculty and newly hooded MA students walked as one to commencement exercises, where the college of Liberal Arts recognized over 600 graduates. See Gallery (bottom) below for images.
Ph.D. / MFA Welcome Reception a Success
The college held its first welcome session for new and returning Ph.D./ MFA students and their families. Among the activities included a seminar hosted by Dr. John Garrigus, Ph. D. advisor of Transatlantic History, on using social media sits for research, professional head shots of our students, and a meet & greet social with faculty. Thanks to all who joined us.
