New Page on Blazing Construction

In our ongoing efforts to keep the campus community informed of construction projects, we have added a new page to our Blog called Featured Projects. On this page we will take a deeper look at some of the projects recently completed on campus. Our first featured project is the Arlington Hall Chilled Water Upgrades.

Facilities Management announces efficiency measures

UT Arlington and all state-supported institutions have been asked to plan for reductions in state revenue this spring in response to the projected state budget shortfall. The Office of Facilities Management and Campus Operations is implementing several measures to further trim costs and focus on core campus services.

Effective this month, individual office trash containers will be removed, and employees will be asked to use blue office recyclable containers for all paper and cardboard materials and the larger common area trash containers for non-recyclables (food waste, food containers, wet items, and certain plastics).

If your office suite or hall does not have a common area trash container, contact the Office of Facilities Management service call center at uta.edu/fixit or call 2-2000. Some campus restrooms will be monitored less frequently during the day, given custodial staff reductions. Faculty and staff may request immediate service by contacting the service call center.

Employees are asked to turn off classroom, lab, and office lights when the space is not in use and to close sashes on lab exhaust fans when possible to achieve further cost savings.

ERB Move Update

Facilities Management has completed moving people from Nedderman, Engineering Lab, Woolf, Science Hall, Life Science, Cribbs, Geo Science, and General Academic Building into their new offices in the Engineering Research Building. The move went very smoothly and over the next few weeks we will be cleaning out the old rooms and getting them ready for future use.
