The Office of Information Technology will install a new component in the power system for the Engineering Research Building that will interrupt the network in the ERB and the Wade Building from 6 p.m. Friday, May 24, until 2 a.m. Saturday, May 25.

The network outage will impact only these two locations. Power systems for the rest of the buildings are not affected.

Services housed in the Arlington Regional Data Center and network services for the rest of the campus will not be affected.

North bridge elevators out for summer

Elevators for the north bridge over Cooper Street will be out of service Monday, May 13-Aug. 5, for an upgrade. The elevators on the south bridge will be accessible during this time.

Steam outage planned May 13-15

The Thermal Energy Plant will shut down steam service to the campus Monday-Wednesday, May 13-15, to complete annual inspection and repairs.

Buildings served by the plant will be without hot water and steam during that time but will still have electrical power, air conditioning, and cold water service.

Library renovations close sixth floor

The sixth floor of the Central Library will close for renovations Monday, May 13-Friday, Aug. 2. The floor will be inaccessible during construction time.

During construction, the administration staff will move to Suite 516.  Special Collections will close Friday, May 10. The Special Collections staff will relocate to various parts of the library. Exhibits and other materials will not be available during this time.

The Center for Southwestern Studies will move to the History Department in University Hall.  Library staff will use Study Room 414A, which will not be available for the summer.

A pathway between Nedderman Hall and the Geo-Science Building is narrower while the roof on Nedderman’s atrium and lower-level classrooms receive an update. The southwest entrance to Nedderman Hall is closed during the project.

The accessible ramp at the south basement entrance of Davis Hall will be replaced next month. The south entrance to the building will be closed Saturday, March 9-Friday, March 22.

All other building entry and exit points will remain open. Temporary signage will direct visitors to the north entrances of the building.

Available north-south routes within the city limits are Green Oaks, Fielder, West, Stadium, and Texas Highway 360. West Street starts behind the E.H. Hereford University Center and runs north through downtown Arlington, connecting to Division. Fielder is west of campus.

Facilities Management will be working on various buildings throughout the winter break.  Please be aware of construction signage for building closings, room closures, redirection of entrances/exits and signage around the campus.

ELECTRICAL OUTAGES

NOTE FOR BUILDING OUTAGES: Facilities Management strongly recommends that all equipment is turned off before leaving for the holiday break and all office refrigerators cleaned out.  The emergency generator for the building will remain operational during the entire outage to support on-going research.  Facilities Management has attempted to meet with anyone doing research to ensure that their research project is supported.

Anyone with any questions about electrical support for building research need to contact OFM to ensure that their project is supported with emergency power.  Please do not assume that your lab area will be supported by emergency power.  Police Dispatch will be fully operational during this time.
