Pecan Street Overhead and Storm Line Project – Starting Phase One

Phase one will require closing 30 of the 127 spaces in the LCN lot.  With the completion of the SEC Utility project the 24 spaces behind Lipscomb are now useable for  students.  We will also be installing temporary signage blocking of a row for Residence hall parking in lot 45 (south side of Lipscomb) during this phase of the project.

All building entrances will remain open during the project.   The scope of this phase will include installation of the communications duct bank in front of the building and the storm water line from the back of the building to Pecan Street.

Tree Debris Removal

The tree debris removal on campus will continue this week. The outlying areas, such as parking lots , still have debris to be removed and we have begun that process. After the debris has been picked up Grounds will concentrate on the broken limbs still in trees and cleaning up the limbs that were broken in the storm.

The City of Arlington is working on a storm water line crossing Mitchell Street and Center Street. Traffic will be restricted from 4 lanes to 2 lanes until the project is completed.

Speer Street Resurfacing

The contractor will start the resurface on Speer Street. This will include from Mitchell Street to Sixth Street.

Construction Timeline:

10 days weather permitting

Speer Street will be rebuilt with curbs and gutters and Sixth Street will be repaired and patched. During this process the Southdale entrance can be used.

Construction will begin next week (weather permitting).

Repairs should take two weeks.

Meadow Run

We are continuing with repairs, most units are completed and residents are back to normal. Several guest housing units are nearing completion so these units may be used for UT Arlington Departments. There was a minor setback in two of the units during repair. A sprinkler line was hit and minor damage to ceilings and walls slowed the renovation process. We are still working to be completely finished with all units by February 12th. There may be a couple that need final clean up or flooring installed the week of February 15th.

Make Ready’s

Facilities Management completed 62 Make Ready’s for the month of January.

Parking Lot 50 & 51 Expansion

The contractor is currently working on the expansion of two of the South student parking lots. Once this project is completed in mid March it will provide an additional exit and entrance on Grand Ave. The expansion will create 138 additional student parking spaces.

Addition of New Parking Lot

Construction started last week on a new student parking lot at the intersection of Doug Russell and Pecan Street. Once completed the new parking lot will provide 166 spaces for student parking.

Parking Lot 49 Redesign

Weather permitting, Parking Lot 49 will be redesigned over Spring Break.  Modifications to Doug Russell will be made to allow for a right and left turn lane onto Cooper to improve traffic flow and reduce accidents. We are estimating 235 additional spaces for student parking once this lot is completed.

Fine Arts Music Restrooms

The first floor mens and ladies restrooms are scheduled to be upgraded over the semester. These renovations will address ADA issues and create better utilization of the space.

Campus Fire Door Replacement

Campus fire door replacement is underway and we are currently working on Texas Hall, Carlise Hall and Geoscience.

Woolf Hall scheduled to start April 2010 and completed June 2010
