Fine Arts Electrical Outage

This is our second notice regarding the Fine Arts Building electrical switchgear replacement project scheduled to take place over this year’s Holiday Break.  This project will require an electrical outage for the entire building beginning December 26, 2016, to last through January 1, 2017.  The building’s emergency generator will remain operational during this outage, but will support egress lighting and life safety only.  No one will be allowed in the building without an escort from Facilities Management and/or the Police Department.

All refrigerators/freezers should be cleaned out.  To prevent any possible damage, we also recommend you turn off all electronic equipment in the offices including computers, scanners, and copiers before leaving for the Holiday Break (these devices do not need to be unplugged from their electrical outlets).  Please let your faculty and staff members know as necessary.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your cooperation.  If you have any questions, concerns, or special requirements during this time frame, please contact either Jeff Johnson, Facilities Management Director, at jljohnson@uta.edu or Toby Buhrkuhl, Facilities Management Electric Shop Supervisor, at tbuhrkuhl@uta.edu .

We will be sending additional reminders as the date of this scheduled outage draws near.  Again, thank you.

Business Building Temporary Electrical Outage – Sunday, October 30th.

To begin prepping for the switchgear replacement to take place later this year, the Office of Facilities Management has scheduled an electrical outage for the entire College of Business building on Sunday, October 30th, 2016, beginning at 7:00 a.m. to last until 7:00 p.m.  The building’s emergency generator will remain operational during this outage, but will support egress lighting and life safety only.  No one will be allowed in the building without an escort from Facilities Management and/or the Police Department.

To prevent any possible damage, Facilities Management recommends the turning off of all electronic equipment in the offices including computers, scanners, and copiers before this outage (these devices do not need to be unplugged from their electrical outlets).  All refrigerator/freezers should be cleared of any temperature-sensitive items.  Please let your faculty and staff members know as necessary.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your cooperation.  If you have any questions, concerns, or special requirements during this time frame, please contact either Toby Buhrkuhl, Facilities Management Electric Shop Supervisor, at (972) 832-1490 or Jeff Johnson, Facilities Management Director, at (817) 798-8456.

Emergency Generator Testing – Friday, October 14th

Facilities Management will be testing the emergency electrical generators serving the following buildings on Friday, October 14th, between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.:

Central Library

College Park Center & South Parking Garages

Davis Hall

Science Hall

Texas Hall

University Hall

This testing will only affect the electrical services tied to each building’s generator, not the entire building.  There will be a slight “blip” lasting approximately one half of a second as the electrical service transfers to the generator and another as it is transferred back to the normal building service.  It is recommended you keep computer work in progress saved during this timeframe to prevent any possible data loss.  Please let your faculty and staff members know as necessary.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your cooperation.  If you have any questions or concerns, please call either Toby Buhrkuhl at (972) 832-1490 or Jeff Johnson at (817) 798-8456.
