Emergency Water Outage – Chemistry & Physics Building

We must schedule an emergency water outage for the entire Chemistry & Physics Building to begin at 12:00 noon today, February 22, 2017.  We’re not sure how long this outage will last, but will get repairs made and water service restored as soon as humanly possible.  We have an equipment failure in the basement causing a leak.  Repair materials/parts are on their way to the campus now, and we have staff members in the basement keeping watch to prevent flooding in case the leak escalates.

We apologize for any inconvenience, but this is an unavoidable situation.  Please let your faculty and staff members know as necessary.  If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.

Temporary Electrical Outage – Civil Engineering Lab Building Feb 6

Oncor Electric Delivery must perform maintenance activities on the electrical transformer serving the Civil Engineering Lab Building.  This maintenance will require a temporary shutdown of the electrical service for the entire building.  Oncor has requested clearance for this outage to begin at 5:00 a.m. on Monday morning, February 6th, lasting no longer than one hour.

To prevent any possible damage, we recommend you turn off all electronic equipment in the offices including computers, scanners, and copiers before leaving for the weekend (these devices do not need to be unplugged from their electrical outlets).  Please let your faculty and staff members know as necessary.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your cooperation.  If you have any questions, concerns, or special requirements during this time frame, please contact either Toby Buhrkuhl, Facilities Management Electric Shop Supervisor, at (972) 832-1490 or Jeff Johnson, Facilities Management Director, at (817) 798-8456.

Davis Hall Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Preventive Maintenance

In order to complete preventive maintenance and clean the coils in two of Davis Hall’s air handling units, their shutdown will be required.  The Office of Facilities Management is scheduling these shutdowns for Sunday, February 12th.  These two units will be shut down for four hours each on this day.  The remaining units in the building will remain operational which should allow temperatures to remain comfortable.

Please let your fellow staff members know as necessary.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your cooperation.  If you have any questions, concerns, or special requirements during this time frame, please contact either Scott Willis at wwillis@uta.edu or Bill Cheek at billc@uta.edu .

Emergency Water Outage – Architecture Building, Maverick Activities Center, Nanofab Building

During the below outage, the fire hydrant was found to be leaking.  Unfortunately, the valve on the City of Arlington’s main line will need to be replaced before this leak can be repaired. The City would like to schedule an estimated one-hour water outage at the Architecture Building, Maverick Activities Center, and Nanofab Building for today, Friday, January 6th, beginning at 12:00 noon.

All restrooms in these three buildings will be closed during this time period.  EH&S – Yes, this will affect the fire lines in these three buildings.

We apologize for the short notice, but the City needs to get this leak repaired before it creates an additional ice hazard.  If you have any questions or concerns, let us know.

Thank you for your cooperation.
