A few good places to start:

1. National Science Foundation. Don’t be fooled, even though this site has many a STEM fellowship, Anthropology and Humanities fellowships are listed on this site as well. If you are doing research, then its SCIENCE!

2. Pivot. This site connects graduate students to moo-lah, big time. You can search thousands of funding opportunities using key words. The best part is that its FREE, (unlike other major funding aggregators).

3. Professional Organizations: Locate orgs in the industry in which you are focusing your research. The National Press Club awards fellowships to journalism majors, the Coordinating Council for Women in History awards fellowships to (female) history majors, and the Mycological Society of America awards fellowships to… mycology majors! (Well, bio majors studying all things fungi.)

Once you find fellowships that fit well with your research, be sure to attend an EDGE Writing Workshop for External Funding. Attend one or all three parts of this series to ensure that your application is complete and competitive. Now that you have this handy-dandy list, in the words of Wordsworth, “To begin, BEGIN!”

As a graduate student at UT Arlington, we hope that you would take the time to consider sharing your graduate studies experience with those you feel would most benefit from a graduate program.

From March 22 — March 27, 2010, the University will be hosing Graduate Forums Week. Graduate Forums are available in most areas of study, and provide inquiring individuals an opportunity to meet with graduate advisors as well as key faculty and staff members who can offer valuable advice on graduate programs.

During the forum, participants will be given an overview of graduate programs available within a particular College or School, from special certifications offered to masters and doctoral programs. At the Graduate Forum, individuals will learn about admission and program requirements, discover time saving information on applying to graduate studies, and explore related career opportunities.

Encourage your friends and colleagues to make a reservation now, by clicking here. We ask that reservations be made at least two days in advance so we can ensure that a personal packet of materials will be ready upon arrival at the forum.

Individuals are more than welcome to invite a family member and friend with them to the Graduate Forum!

Graduate Forums provides an excellent opportunity to connect with and learn more about UT Arlington.

NCAA Research Committee
2010 Graduate Student Research Grant Program
Call for Proposals

The NCAA Research Committee is pleased to announce the 2010 NCAA Graduate Student Research Grant Program. The program’s goals are: (1) to stimulate research on college athletics; (2) to foster contributions to the empirical research on college athletics; (3) to provide financial support to graduate students interested in engaging in high-quality research related to college athletics, and (4) to assist NCAA-member colleges and universities and the general public in gaining access to new and outstanding research and researchers in this field.

Background
The NCAA Research Committee consists of athletics administrators and faculty who collaborate with NCAA research department staff to produce high-quality research on issues related to college athletics. This research is seen by member colleges and universities as crucial to facilitating an environment of informed decision making on matters of NCAA policy and procedure. By encouraging new researchers, the Research Committee hopes to widen and strengthen the interest in and quality of research directly relevant to student-athlete well-being and college athletics participation.
