The newly opened Safeway (think Tom Thumb) in Georgetown, MD, has been designed to fit in with its neighborhood: the grocery store is on the 2nd level, and other shops encircle the ground floor. A parking garage is hidden from the street, behind the lower shops.
While surely not the first such grocery store, it’s definitely unique from what we tend to see in the DFW area, especially for a non-Whole Foods-type store.
