After the midnight showing of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: part 1″ (which was AMAZING) and then the “Evening of Scribbling Recklessly” (a 7pm – 7am write-a-thon), my sleep schedule has been out of whack.
Combine this with the recent cold front…and you have an immune system that decided to shut down.
And then there was [...]
Winner!
Nov 29
…there will be no formal blog post today.
Why?
Cause I’m too busy freaking out.
I’ve been sitting on tickets to the midnight premier of “Deathly Hallows” for nearly three weeks. I’m too excited to think of a blogging subject today.
However, I can add some NaNo progress…not much, but some.
Though I still have not [...]
Readers ‘n ‘ritas
Nov 15
Between Thursday and today, I’ve written a whopping 3,000 words for NaNo.
That’s OK, though. I had a very busy, very fun weekend at Readers ‘n ‘ritas, a reader’s convention held by Fresh Fiction.
Not only did I get a lot of goodies in the form of free books, but I got to talk to [...]
Week Two Update
Nov 11
I am only 1K shy of crossing the 40K mark.
This means, I’m just a little more than 10K shy of hitting the NaNoWriMo goal of 50K, 35K shy of my 75K goal and 160K shy of hitting 200K.
I could have been a lot closer to the big 5-0 if I hadn’t taken Tuesday off. [...]
The NaNo No-No
Nov 8
Week one of NaNoWriMo is over, and I’m both pleased and disappointed with my progress.
I rebelled a bit and started a project over, which put me behind for a couple of days on the 75K goal (and way behind on the 200K goal), but I’m a lot happier with the direction the [...]
A NaNoWriMo Experiment
Nov 4
Inspiration.
As writers, it’s something we kind of need. Sure, we can sit down and force ourselves to write, but the result is a frustrating couple of hours with very little progress.
Normally, for me, my inspiration is high when I start a new project. The beginning is never the issue. It’s the [...]
It’s official.
The 30 days of literary abandon known as NaNoWriMo has begun. Writers all over the world hunkered down at midnight to begin writing; the goal: 50,000 words in a mere 30 days.
Though this is my second year to participate in the challenge, it is my first year to attend the events in the DFW [...]
Are you ready?
Oct 28
NaNoWriMo is only a few days away!
How ready are you for 30 days of literary abandon?
While some of you may be itching to start, outlines organized and plot bunnies all lined up, many of you, perhaps, still don’t have any idea what you’ll write about.
If you’re one of those who has yet [...]
Keeping it interesting.
Oct 25
Struggling to keep a project interesting is something all writers will experience at one point or another.
Writer’s Block. Writing Slumps. The Murky Middle.
Whatever you prefer to call it, all writers hit that snag. Sometimes the wall is due to lack of ideas. Other times, however, it’s due to lack of motivation.
So when [...]
Hitting a Snag
Oct 18
Originally my goal for this semester was to finish two novels. Party Favors was supposed to be finished before I started my NaNoWriMo novel, Mouse Games.
However, I’ve hit a bit of a snag working on Party Favors. I’ve reached a point where just writing isn’t enough, I have to stop and reevaluate what I am [...]
