Learn (Greeting in Spanish)

Analysis:

Learning Goals: Greeting in Spanish

1. The student is expected to use language to obtain, reinforce, or expand knowledge of other subject areas, also using technology to communicate.

2. Students engage in conversations, provide and obtain information, express feeling and emotion and exchange opinion.

3. Students demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between products and perspective of the culture studies.

Assessment: My computer. Use Audacity to work with audio. I create learning resources through recording my voice, and created (greeting) in Spanish. Also the students can created their own conversation at this site, created a collaborative learning environment and enhance motivation of learners.

Material and equipment: Chalk-board, paper, pencils or pens, my computer and computer microphone.

Essential question: In Spanish

Subject: Spanish 1A, basic Spanish (my students do not speak Spanish, they start to learn, most of them are African American.

Challenge Students: Follow differentiated instruction heading, noted through the chapter.

Assignment:

Walk up student, shake his or her hand and offer a greeting in Spanish. Students are empowered to respect, understand, and negotiate meaningful dialogue via language other than their own.

  • (Greeting in Spanish) Model the four possible answers, and have the student repeat his or her answer choice. Repeat with several students.
  • Ask student his or her name. ¿Cómo te llamas? Me llamo… ¿Y tú? ¿Cómo te llamas? Prompt students with Me llamo… Repeat the process with several students.
  • When teaching greetings, emphasize that students should say Buenos días, Buenas noches and Buenas tardes.
  • Also, the students are using gestures to convey bien (thumbs-up), regular (shrug shoulder), mal (thumbs-down), and más o menos (waggle hand in “so-so” motion)

Design:

Motivate students talk in Spanish. They can be more involve in learn because they are creating meaningful dialogue and communicate more effectively with other. Using of multiple participant roles and subsequent discourse roles/discourse functions, increased motivation. Also, this is design to the student’s use collaborative learning and extended language practice.

Development:

The activity is targeting the communicative modes as described in the Standards:

Interpersonal: Two way communication using receptive skills and productive skills

Interpretive: One way communication using receptive skills

Presentational: One way communication using productive skills

Transcript: The students are going to learn:

  • Buenos días (good morning)
  • ¿Cómo estás? How are you? or What’s up?
  • Muy bien (very good) ¿Y tú? And you? más o menos (so-so)
  • ¿Cuál es tu nombre? What is your name?
  • Mi nombre es… My name is…
  • Hasta luego (See you later)
  • Hasta mañana (See you tomorrow)
