At some point or another in everyone’s life, depression or an overwhelming since of sadness can occur. Whether it be from the loss of a loved one, a beloved pet passing, or a breakup of a relationship or marriage. Everyday I see pain and suffering beyond what I am currently feeling. I lost my dog and my relationship, all in a weeks time. I am struggling like the many other like me out there, to just focus on everyday tasks. I just want to sleep and not stop sleeping. I want to sleep off the pain and heartache that I am feeling, but that is easier said than done. I guess what I am realizing is that you just have to tell yourself you are ok and keep pressing forward. I hope to be rid of this feeling soon, and back to the happy Amy I once was.

The hardest part of losing an animal that is dear to you, is the changes you make to your daily routine now that they aren’t in it. No more coming home to a wagging tail, or begging for treats, or a cuddle bug in the evening. You do not have the little companion who rushes to you when you cry, and senses how you feel. The hardest parts of letting go of your companion cannot be measured. You feel a sense of a complete loss, a loving little thing that only asks for love and food, nothing else, now only is present with the sight of her dog bowl and treats. I will greatly miss my little companion now and for awhile, and I will never forget how important she was to me. Sometimes when you know its time, you have to learn to let go. Well I am slowly learning to let her go, but I will always remember her and how she blessed my life with her unconditional love and lasting companionship.

The Dallas Mavericks win game one of the playoffs against Portland’s Trailblazers in one exciting adrenalin rush game. The Mavericks and Trailblazers didn’t even make it to one hundred points in this game due to both team’s ability to defend the basket. Derrick and Kid’s points totalled together to be a whopping 52 points, Chandlier’s rebounds and great assists helped, and all in all the game was neck and neck and left you on the edge of your seat in anticipation of what would happen next. So congradulations to our Dallas Mavericks you won game one in the best of seven. Let’s get to four before the other team!

When you are in an unhealthy relationship there are problems that can occur internally and externally. Experts say that in order for humans to be happy, they all need to have the basic requirements of acceptance, love, and care met. Without these basics needs, unhappiness can run ramped. I myself can speak of the toll a relationship I recently ended took on me. I walked around with my head down, literally believed I was crazy, and that I was not normal. I began to feel incredibly ugly and sad. I cried almost every night, even when things in my life were going great. It took me 2 1/2 years to realize I was being verbally abused. To break an abusive cycle I learned to cut all forms of communication, and literally rid my life of this possessive person. In good time I believe once you get rid of the problem you can begin to feel normal again, and even see your overall health improve both internally and externally.

The Texas Rangers this weekend swept Boston in what was a great start to their season. Many people such as George W. Bush and Nolan Ryan, were just a few of the celebrities to show up to the sold out ballpark. Cruz became the first American League player to hit homers in all four games. He joined Willie Mays and Mark Mcguire as the only major league players to accomplish the feat. Holland, Hamilton, and Neftali Feliz, really showed up in the last game Monday night. Overall the Rangers are second in the league for home runs and the players and coaches have reason to celebrate, as well as their fans. Let’s go Rangers!

Rainy days are most pleasant from the comfort of your own home. Being most of us have school or work a 9-5 schedule, we do not fully get to enjoy the rain and cloud filled sky. However, when we do have a day off,
we are sure to get plenty of rest order delivery, and not do a thing but relax with our favorite books, movies, and t.v. shows. So while I envy those sitting in the comfort of their own home while I sit in my class room, I know there will be more days to come that may be wetter and gloomier than today, and hope that I will be at home to enjoy it!

Many students here at the University of Texas at Arlington will be saying hasta luego to summer vacation. Instead they will be taking full time school and many are also working. Upon questioning random students in my Communication Technologies class, several students stated they had never taken summer courses in the past, but in order to graduate on time they would have to enroll during the summer. One girl even stated that one of her courses is four hours long and that she is dreading it, but that it will be well worth the time she puts in come next May. Indeed many of the students interviewed stated that the summer courses will only speed up the process of graduating, and that they cannot wait to walk across the stage in their cap and gown for all the hard work and time they have put into their education.

Students are anxious all over campus about the midterms in their classes this week. Many have stated that they are running on their last fumes, and that they cannot wait for spring break to come. Students are fueling themselves with energy drinks and coffee to make sure they are catching every last detail their professors give on what to expect on the tests. Talking to Audrey, a girl in my Communication Technologies class, allowed me to understand how much time and effort she was putting into reviewing, and how exhausted she was from all of it. In general it seems the students are prepared, and just ready to be done with this hectic and stressful week of Midterms. Hold your breath UTA students, spring break is next week, and the work you put in this week will be awarded with relaxation and recooperation!

Your alarm goes off at 6:45 a.m. You wake to take a quick shower and grab a granola bar to eat on the way to school. You sit in traffic for about an hour, and finally pull into the campus. Now it is time to find a parking spot, that will take you at least fifteen to thirty minutes to do. Time for the ten minute walk up four flights of stairs. Now that you are just a few minutes early, you catch up on anything you were too tired to do the night before. Finally you count down the time until you get to walk across campus to your vehicle, buckle up, and drive the traffic filled roads in what is beginning to look like rush hour traffic. Now your home. It is time for sleep, and homework can wait until later!

The Mavericks won against the Sacramento Kings this past Tuesday in an exciting game full of suspenseful plays. In the beginning, the Mavericks were in a hole of more than 20 points, and not looking so great. The Mavs came back to win it, and by the fourth quarter the Mav’s lead was in double digits. The Major point lead could have been a result of having “Ronny B” back on the court mixed with Kid’s total shots being in double digit numbers. Either way you put it, the Mavericks won, and many Mav’s fans are already chanting, “Playoffs!”
