This song focuses more on the impact of war on not just the soldiers but their families as well. While it is beautifully written and expressed, the viewpoints from this soldier’s mother, fiancee, and father help listeners to understand the strength and commitment of family while their soldier is at war. Though his day-to-day is tiring, it appears to be meaningless without the letters he receives from the ones who love him most. This song clearly magnifies the support, worry, and affection that many other military families face during war, and is one that gives me chills every time I hear it.
