Kate Middleton’s Style

With the royal wedding now only hours away it seems only fitting that I go through Kate’s fashion throughout her time in the spotlight!

Kate Middleton’s style is always polished, sophisticated and fresh – just as a future princess should be. Throughout her time in the media’s eye, she has looked absolutely stunning no matter what she’s wearing. Whether it be casual or proper attire, she always makes whatever she’s wearing look exceptional.

Here are a few of Kate’s looks that you can put together yourself.

During a surprise visit to Northern Ireland earlier this year, she donned a classic Burberry trench coat with a feminine ruffled detail along with dark hosiery and black high-heel pumps. The coat was sold out within hours of the event, but you can find a similar coat for way cheaper at bebe.com for only $149.

At the couple’s official royal engagement announcement that was made in November 2010, she wore the now infamously, figure-fitting Issa dress that looked gorgeous on her. The dress so elegantly matched her sapphire engagement ring which made it a perfect look for the occasion. You can get a similar dress at chicaboutiqueonline.com for only $140.

Navy V-Neck Dress

Kate put together a great casual look when she went to see Prince William and Harry play polo in England. She wore a cute teal dress with wedged heels and chic camel-toned leather tote bag. Find a similar Etienne Saddle Audrey bag and Steve Madden wedge heels at famousfootwear.com for $69 & $59.

And lastly, how can we forget Kate’s signature black pumps that she pairs with practically every look. What’s great about these is that they bring together every outfit and looked fashionably simple, yet elegant for a princess-to-be. US Weekly’s Hollywood Bash

US Weekly hosted it’s Hollywood Bash this week and with it brought lots of  sexy celebs of all ages.

The event was of course held in Hollywood, California and celebrated the magazine’s Hot Hollywood 2011 list, which honors big names in the world of style and entertainment. Jessica Simpson was named Style Icon of the Year. Her self-named brand has made over $750 million in sales worldwide and is carried in 35 countries. Jessica looked stunning in patterned dress by Etro paired with Giuseppe Zanotti wedged heels.

Hayden Panettiere was also honored that evening and was given the title of “The Style Chameleon”. She looked exceptionally perfect wearing a Camilla and Mark dress, blazer and Jimmy Choo ankle-strap heels. Cute and subtle makeup along with a simple up-do brings this look together effortlessly.

Lauren Conrad looked sophisticated and chic in this number. Wearing from her own clothing line, Paper Crown, she effortlessly shows off her long legs with a blue mini skirt paired with a flowing nude blouse. Pulling her hair back into a sleek do along with vintage Chanel bag and nude pumps brings together the best look. Definitely has to be my top favs of the night for sure!

True Blood’s Joe Manganiello was also seen at the event looking rather dapper. Dressed in a Joseph Abboud tailored suit with shoes by John Varvatos he looked incredibly well-put together for a style event such as this. I love seeing men in these fitting suits, it definitely makes it look more polished and structured.

Laundry, Groceries, Shopping

Whatever the daily errand, celebrities always have to look their best.

Oh yes they’re just like us… taking their dog for walks, running to the supermarket, shopping at boutiques. The only difference is they have to look picture perfect. If you had a group of paparazzi following your every move I’m sure you’d want to look your best, right? Luckily for us, we have the opportunity to look however we like, good or bad, it doesn’t matter. Yay for us normal people!

Here are a few of my favorite celebrities dressed casual chic while running their afternoon errands.

Amanda Seyfried looked comfortably chic strolling around town running her errands. Whether in shorts, cargo or skinny jeans, she always looks incredibly laid back when it comes to her casual look. By pairing a loose comfortable tee with a beanie or trendy Ray Bans, she effortlessly pulls together her look without over doing anything. Love it!

Vanessa Hudgens is no stranger to looking fabulously chic whether it’s on the red carpet or having care-free shopping spree. Vanessa has to be my top 5 favorites because she knows how to keep her look cute and fun without going overboard. Whether it’s a graphic flowing tank paired with skinny jeans and booties or a shirt dress paired with strappy heels, she pulls together her look making it look super easy. By easily adding some stylish shades, cute boho bag and minimal jewelry, you can easily pull off a look like Vanessa.

Kids’ Choice Awards

Nickelodeon’s annual Kids’ Choice Awards kicked off this past Sunday and invited a lot of hot, young celebs with great style.

Selena Gomez looked beautifully chic in a Christian Cota dress, Camilla Skovgaard heels and Lauren Merkin’s clutch. This is such a great, mature look for her – she works every detail and keeps her dress simple but adds a pop of color with strappy heels. Keeping her hair down keeps her from looking too made up which is perfect for an event like this.

Miranda Cosgrove rocked a hot-pink Miu Miu dress and black closed-toe heels. Her look was kept casual and laid back with suprisingly no jewelry and her hair in subtle waves pulled to one side. For her, this is a very age-appropriate look for girls in their teen years; overall cute and stylish.

Victoria Justice looked glam in a Theia dress, Brian Atwood shoes and Lauren Merkin clutch. The 18 year old pulled off her look with a multi-colored blue mini with gold pumps and matching clutch that effortlessly pulled her looked together. Once again, keeping her hair down keeps the look less formal and more casual for this type of event. And like Miranda and Selena, keep things simple with minimal jewelry.

Guy Trends

Okay, so here it is fellas – Men’s fashion.

I’ve been noticing the trend of famous, young men such as Ed Westwick and Nick Jonas who were recently seen wearing dressy blazers combined with casual attire. Ed Westwick was seen at an event wearing a white button down, dressy blazer and dark jeans.

Great combination if you ask me. Also, singer Nick Jonas was spotted with a similar look but kept it a little more casual with a v-neck shirt underneath with slacks, which put the look together just as nicely.

I love this look because it combines both menswear with the almost effortless look of laid back casual which makes it perfect for either evening or day.

Zac Efron looked too perfect for words when he was spotted earlier this week wearing a sharp pair of shoes, nice cut jeans, and a faded, distressed jacket. His sleek look combined with aviators and a scarf sealed the deal.

My opinion: Handsome, sophisticated, and well done. It’s a very mature look for him that was very age appropriate for men in their early to mid 20’s and he also doesn’t overdo anything. He kept it very low key, but also very fashionably put together.

The Academy Awards – Oscar Night!

I absolutely LOVED the gowns on tonight’s red carpet. Stunning and gorgeous, period.

During tonight’s red carpet arrivals I saw many women wearing a very popular color: red. Everything ranging from candy apple reds, to fiery orange-reds. In various styles, actresses wore these luxurious hues on romantically designed gowns. Host of the evening, Anne Hathaway, wore a vintage Valentino Haute Couture gown that looked incredibly ravishing on her. Actress/Singer Jennifer Hudson wore a tangerine-red ensemble by Versace. Also, Jennifer Lawrence looked absolutely gorgeous in a simple, Calvin Klein collection made by Francisco Costa. And lastly, the beautiful Sandra Bullock wore Vera Wang.

Along with this, I’d also like to share my 2 favorite dresses AND 2 worst dresses of the evening. My top absolute favorite gowns of the night had to be Best Actress Nominee & Winner Natalie Portman in a purple gown by Mulleavy. Even while being mid-way through her pregnancy, she looked absolutely glowing. The color and the drapery of her dress suited her perfectly. I say A+. My second fav of the night had to be Natalie Portman’s ever-so-talented Black Swan co-star Mila Kunis. The lovely actress wore a lilac Elie Saab Haute Couture gown which was just stunning <3

Now on to my 2 worst picks of the night. Unfortunately, Nicole Kidman in Christian Dior did not impress me at all. She is always so good with her choice of fabrics & knows exactly what works best on her but I guess she had bad judgment this time. From her waistline all the way down there is way to much detail, the wide angle on her hips is not flattering and the slit on the front, ugh need I say more? I would have like to have seen her in a more simple version of this dress: in other words, no detail at the bottom, no slit and a simple silver or matching closed-toe pump. My next worse (and I was really disappointed in this) is Amy Adams in L’Wren Scott. She looks gorgeous but the hair & overload of too much accessories brought this look down for me. I’d like it if the dress maybe had a deeper cut that showed a little more cleavage, and if maybe she had put her hair up and lost the necklace because it already had too much detail going on . A simple diamond bracelet would have pulled this look together beautifully.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week

One of the biggest events of the year in the fashion world occurred during Feb. 10th – 17th.

Designers ranging from Calvin Klein, Max Azria, Diane Von Furstenburg, Carolina Herrera, and Michael Kors were all present showcasing their Spring 2011 collections.

Throughout the event we saw lots of lace, feathers, and satin on romantic LBD’s (little black dresses). I love this look because it goes back to a more simple & girly approach but also keeps a romantic & seductive look intact as well.

Along with this trend, were shades of luscious coral just in time for spring. I’m loving this color because it brings out the skin tone on everyone. It’s rich and vibrant enough to wear for any occasion. Various options from flowing spring dresses and loose blouses in this shade will work wonderfully. All in all, this is the perfect color for spring.

2011 Grammy Awards!

Oh yes, tonight was THE night for fashion!

This season’s award show was all about METALLIC dresses.

Lovely ladies such as Heidi Klum, Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, and Miley Cyrus  were just some of the many women who were spotted at tonight’s event wearing gorgeous gowns of shimmering gold & silver metallics on the red carpet.

Hello everyone!

This is my first blog EVER & I’m pretty excited to see how it goes. I will be writing about the fashion world and more specifically about what particular trends are popular during that week. I will mostly be sticking to women’s clothing, however, since majority of my audience (ahem, fellow classmates) will be male, I will try to post ideas/trends in men’s fashion as well. My goal is to A) give my honest opinion on the following topic, B) how/when to wear these styles and C) what type of celebrities are sporting these type of trends in their everyday lives, whether it be casual or red-carpet attire.

As the great Coco Chanel once said, “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”
