This stack of books may appear ominous if you need to do research, but do not know where to begin. I believe I can help you.  My name is Barbara Howser.  I am a librarian in the Science & Engineering Library, located in the basement of Nedderman Hall on the campus of the University of Texas/Arlington (USA).
The subject areas I am responsible for are: Civil and Environmental Engineering;  Industrial & Manufacturing Systems Engineering; and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.  I do not have an engineering degree.  I have been a  librarian for what seems like eons.  The library world has changed vastly since I began my career.   Over the years I have gained expertise in learning the tools of the trade & how to help folks do library research.  I welcome you to email me, visit me in the library, or call me.
