UT Arlington Parent, Family Center hosting speaker in April
Multiple Grammy-winning artist Aaron Neville, who is already booked for the Maverick Speaker Series that evening, will be entertaining at The College Park Center after the wine tasting. Neville will speak about his life experiences as well as playing live music with Ellis Marsalis, a famous New Orleans jazz musician.
The event will occur in two different locations. The wine reception will occur at Digg’s Taco Shop from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. following with Aaron Neville will speak and entertain at 7:30 p.m. in the College Park Center.
Besides the Family Weekend event which occurs in fall, this is the only other event that the UT Arlington Parent and Family Center has hosted.
“What I hope, that it will go pretty well and that people will want to come out and do it again next spring,” said Kendra Kliesen Assistant Director of the UT Arlington Parent and Family Center. “Our goal is 100 parents, and currently we have over 50, which is pretty good with the event over a month away”
Only Kliesen and Casey Gonzales, the Director of UT Arlington Parent and Family Center, are working this event. This is something they are used to, as the team has put on several events for the University of Texas at Arlington in its past. After the event surveys will be emailed to the participants asking questions about the event’s quality and if the event was meaningful to participants.
Gonzales and the Parent and Family Center staff have invited students to join their parents or family to hear the speaker and enjoy the live entertainment. Tickets are free and can be reserved online or by phone. A few tickets will also be available at the door.
“At the end of the day the Parent and Family Center is all about the students – we’re here for you.” Gonzales said.
