I haven’t blogged since spring break! I wrote my comic book with the theme of Shawshank Redemption/Scary Movie. It was to show the animals point of view in the Zoo vs the everyday animals we see. I don’t think it crossed over very well myself. I had a great idea(I think) but didn’t convey it well.
Today I thought about how I will write the script for my comic book. I have all kinds of ideals. Like remixing the Charlie Sheen drama with teddy bears or with the Toy Story characters. Who would be the “winning!” character, Buzz Light year! I don’t know. I also was thinking about remixing the movie The Expendables with care bears or babies faces. Maybe try to remix Casa Blanca with zombies. J/k! Hey, it worked for a well known book I’m reading. All of these thoughts are coming as I type. Maybe I’m just over thinking this project. I could just do my own super hero comic in black and white. Make it a real dark comic like Max Payne. What’s that saying “too much thinking separates the mind from the body”, I don’t know. That sounds good to me and I going with it. Anyway it’s time to start to put pen to paper. Enough thinking already!
In class this week we talked about remixes. I immediately thought of all the remixed songs that I have heard in my life time. I always thought of a remix as a different form of the the original song “remixed” by the same artist. I learned minutes later that a remix can be by a different artist, same song with a different beat. I always thought that was consider a cover or a remake. Then I got to thinking what is original anyway. Everything that surrounds me is a remix or remake. Take for example the Ford Mustang or the Chevy Camaro both cars were lagging in sales. So what did they do? They went a back to their(GM and Ford) glory days and refresh the body styles of the sixties Camaro and the sixties Mustang. They “remixed” these models and now they are hits again. The design of buildings are remixes from other historical buildings. Im a big comedy fan and I will say about 70% of the jokes I hear comedians quote are pretty much “remixed” from other comedians. I now question the validity of a original thought. Is it remixed too. Hell, I don’t know, just wondering. I think I may have thought way too far into this topic. Now my brain hurts. Please kill me. J/K!!!
In our last class I ask the question “What’s the fascination with Zombies?”. I don’t get it. I didn’t mean it to sound like it is a dumb genre or anything. I want to understand and wish someone could explain it to me. I’ve been reading the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies graphic novel and I’m getting the story line just not understanding why the Zombies are needed for this particular novel. I’m really getting into this novel, it’s not that bad. It seems from what I have read that the Zombies are not the main focus of the novel. I do have a couple of things to complain about. #1, The way the book just jumps around. #2, I don’t know who is who’s cousin, there is way to much that is going on at one time. I don’t know the original storyline so I have only this novel to reference. By the way Mister Darcy is a douche!!! I had to say that.
I’ve been contemplating what I want to write for my six word autobiography. I thought it would be real easy. These snow days and PS3 has made it really hard to think about. I have two words that I will most certainly use which are “never settle”. My older brother told me this while I was in a really down moment in my life. Hadn’t had a moment like that since. I get it! I’m still looking for ways to do the web page though. I’m thinking about putting pics of my home and etc.. I’m trying(not very hard) to get the iWeb software down. Moving on now. In our Monday class we went over the different comic book styles. I use to collect comics as a kid but paid no attention on how they were written. All I remember now is that all my friends had Batman, Superman and Spiderman comics. So I wanted to have Batman, Superman and Spiderman comics. I really liked “The Incredible Hulk” though. It was written very well. He was the most bad ass super hero of all. Ok, maybe Wolverine of the “X-Men” too. Anyway this digital comic book has me real excited about this class. How well will I be able to write my own comic book. How does she want us the write it. Who will be the hero? What will be the plot? Who will die? Or will I just crash and burn writing this thing. So many questions. I’m so excited!
