Book of Jacques Casanova “Mémoires de Jacques Casanova de Seingalt” absolutely not know in Russian language.  But French people think of him as a writer, even above Lesaja. Very vividly, so figuratively he draws characters and certain events of his time, and it’s because of his vivid and popular stories. Deep interpretation of Casanova’s writing would take too long. His books have little to say, a few words.   Right now we can’t publish his whole article in this journal because there isn’t enough room for it in here. Yes, there were problems with Cyrillic letters. The translation “All Things Рассмотрен” doesn’t make sense in Russian. It is a combination of English and Russian alphabets. So, my plan of action is to change “All Things” to «Всё» I had a lot of problems with the translation; especially the first sentence took a long time to agree on. Generally when you translate something from one language to another you will always lose some text, it always happens because to make it flow nicely and so it wouldn’t sound translated you just have to change stuff around. Also if you take too much that would be no good either, so it kind of depends on your judgment. The original Google translated text was way out of the context, sentence like this has a lot of problems in it “И теперь у них есть немного развязность мужчин Times”.

 I picked the Armenian and Russian Apple websites. On the Armenian apple.com website everything was in English instead of in Armenian.   On the Russian apple.com website most of the stuff was translated to Russian but there were few words that were not translated. I guess it’s because all the names of the products look better in English. If the translated to another language they would have to come up with graphic identity for the target language. In the Armenian website all the products are just laid out right there and the information about the product is right next to their pictures. It’s not very stylish and it’s just very plain. The Russian website is more attractive, stylish and more updated; it almost looks like the American website. There are a lot of similar products on the webpage like the new iPod Nano, shuffle and the new iPhone 4. The Russian iPhone on the website looks like the American iPhone because it lists all the applications in English. That was kind of intimidating, because if a Russian buys that iPhone from that website he would be worried about whether he can use that iPhone in Russia or America even though it is advertised on Russian website.

Moscow to Kursk Station

Everyone talks about the Kremlin. I have heard all about it, but I’ve never seen it. How many times already (one thousand times), drunk, or hung-over, have I passed across Moscow from the north to the south, from the east to the west, from one end to the other – but I have never seen the Kremlin.

 Well, yesterday I still didn’t see it – in fact the whole evening I wandered around and I wasn’t that drunk.  When I got out at Savelovskaya Station I had a glass of Bison Grass vodka, because I have learned from experience that this is the best available cure for morning headaches.

Yes. Bison Grass it was. And then, at Kalayev Station, I had another glass, only this time it was coriander vodka. An old acquaintance said that coriander vodka dehumanizes people. For,  while it refreshes the body, it weakens the soul. For some reason the opposite happened to me, that is, my soul was refreshed, but my extremities were weakened.  That is why I added two pints of beer and some egg liqueur straight from the bottle.

 Of course you’ll ask, what next, Venichka, what did you drink then? I don’t even know myself what I drank.  I remember quite clearly that on Chekhov Street I had two glasses of Hunter’s vodka. But there was no way I was going to cross Sadovaya Ring Road without a drink. I couldn’t. That meant that I must have had something else to drink.

 From there I ended up in the center of the town, because it always happens like this: when I go looking for the Kremlin I end up at Kursk Station. In fact, I was supposed to go to Kursk Station, and not to the town center, but that is where I went, so as to see the Kremlin once again. I knew anyway, that I wouldn’t see the Kremlin and that this way I’d end up at Kursk Station.

What a shame, it almost brings me to tears. Not because I never made it to Kursk Station yesterday (so what if I didn’t make there yesterday, I’ll make it there today). And, certainly, not because I woke up in the morning at someone’s apartment entrance (it appears that I sat down yesterday on the fortieth step up from an apartment entrance, hugged a small suitcase to my heart, and fell asleep). No, not because it is insulting. This is why it’s insulting: I have just learned that from Chekhov’s Street and to the apartment entrance I was able to drink six more rubles worth – what was it, and where I drank? And in what sequence? And if it made me feel better or worse? No one knows it, and now no one ever will.  Just as no one knows to this day if Prince Dimitry was killed by Boris Godunov or was it the other way around?

What apartment entrance was it? I still have no idea; but it needs to stay that way. All is well. Everything in life should occur slowly and incorrectly. So that man should remain unhappy and confused.

I went to get some air. It was already a morning. Everyone knows – everyone, that is, unconsciousness got in an entrance, and at a dawn left it – everyone knows, what weight in the heart I carried on these to forty steps. And how heavy it was when I ventured outside again.

“Never mind,” I told to myself, “never mind. There is a drug store-see? And there is an asshole in a brown jacket sweeping the sidewalk. You see that too. Go ahead and calm down. Good Luck Trying to Escape Moscow’s Traffic

Traffic is virtually paralyzed on Moscow’s main highways and roads leaving the city. Several miles of traffic jams are forming on the main roads.

According to RIA Novosti, a Russian news source, the representative of Metropolitan Traffic Police said the Downtown Moscow’s roads are especially crowded.  All movement on the loops is practically “stopped.” The jams cover close to 500 kilometers (300 miles), which is a lot for the capital city even as the weekend begins.

The most serious traffic jams occur all along the Moscow Ring Road, mostly on its outer side. It is extremely difficult for traffic in Warsaw, Yegorievsk, Volokolamsk, Dmitrov, Novoryazanskoye and the Leningrad Highway’s. In the center of the capital the longest traffic jam goes through the streets of Academician Sakharov, First Brest, Tverskoi, and Grand Ordynka. Stone bridges and embankments are bottlenecked on both sides of the Moskow and Yauza Rivers.

It is also difficult to get to Volgograd and Kutuzovsky Prospects, Rublevskoe Highway, and Marshal Zhukov, Mnevniki, Komsomol Street and Leninsky Prospect. Major traffic jams also are on the entrances to the Garden Circle and Third Transport Circle.

Yandex, Russia’s largest internet company also affirms the traffic jams in Moscow. Friday evening road conditions have traditionally been rated 9 on a 10 point scale for its “kilometers of traffic jams.”

Representatives of the State call on all drivers in difficult road conditions to observe road safety and comply with the traffic rules  in particular; rules  for overtaking and passing, intersections and pedestrian crossings, as well as to warn against the oncoming traffic.

The translation process was somewhat challenging.  I had some difficulty in translating the names of streets and news companies. Converting between measurements was different from what we are used to. So I frequently had to switch back and forth to make sense for English readers. I simply think that translating from one language to another is never an easy task and there will always be challenges to face. On the other hand, it was easier for me because I have lived in Russia before and I’m more familiar with a lot of the names. I have also have lived in states for years now and I know what would make better sense for English readers rather than who is not.
