It’s a …………..
After waiting 18 weeks to find out if Baby Newton #2 will be another little boy or a little girl, the day had finally arrived. As soon as all of the family had arrived everyone begin marking their guesses on what they thought or wanted baby Newton to be. After eagerly waiting for the reveal; my sister, brother-in-law and nephew gathered around the box, gathering everyone else around. With the video cameras and cameras ready to capture the big reveal on tape,my nephew (the big brother), Brett Thomas slowly opened the box as big BLUE balloons flew out and revealed that…..IT’S A BOY!!! Everyone was soo excited that we are going to have ANOTHER boy in the family. However, no one was as excited as my brother-in-law. (more…)
Saving lives… Its what I do!
Helping people is my passion and has been my job for several summers now. For the last 3 summers I have set out in the 105 degree heat watching adults and children swim and play in the pools. I love my job and I take it very seriously. Not only is it a pool but a water park which adds a lot more stress and responsibility. It is fun because my family can come and I can watch them play but the heat can get very overwhelming. This year I was given the promotion on head guard so, I will not be guarding but responding to whistles and helping with the overall management of the park. My brother is the manager and my older sisters were also employed as managers years ago. Its been an on going joke that they have had a Stanley for the last 10 years because they just cant seem to get rid of us!
Blue vs. Pink
As I mentioned before, one of my older sisters is expecting their second child. For fun, they decided to do a gender reveal party. The theme of the party is going to be blue vs. pink because my brother in law is such a huge sports enthusiasts. They have a 2 year old little boy now so we are all hoping for a girl but mostly just a healthy baby. (more…)
Trying to find our “new norm”!
This year has brought on my new changes and challenges in our family. One of the biggest, my moms diagnosis of Cervical Dystonia. Up until about a year ago, my mom was a vibrant, healthy, active lady. It started as a gradual head turn and then in August of last year, she had a complete hysterectomy and then the bottom fell out. My moms head stayed turned to her left side and caused her a great deal of pain. Because her Aunt has Parkinson’s, we were very concerned that this could also be Parkinson’s. After ruling out Parkinson’s they sent her to a Neurologist in Dallas. After examining her he was 100 % positive that she had Cervical Dystonia which is also referred to as Spasmodic Torticollis. The Kittens 1st Blog Debute
Wow… Its hard to believe these precious babies are already one week old. So I thought it was time to formally introduce them! Meet Eenie, Meanie, Miney, and Moe!!
Meanie….
Meanie is the BIG, mean brother and has the best appetite of them all! He is by far the biggest kitten and loves to play tackle to ensure a good eating spot!
Miney is a very passive kitten. It loves to lie on its back. We think he is a boy but it is still hard to tell Moe…
Moe…
Moe is our little miracle girl! She was apparently the last kitten born and her mama was too tired to help her get started. Now she is as strong as the others and you cant even tell she had a slow start!
This little boy is a teeny, tiny liitle guy! He is by far my favorite and that is simply because I spend so much time with him. He is so tiny that the others just push him away while he is eating. So he is given a bottle a day to help supplement what he is not getting.
Lola’s Labor Day
A few months ago, my nephew noticed 6 kittens popping their heads out from underneath our shed in the backyard. No one believed him until we all saw it for ourselves. For months this one kitten was the only one seen and would come out and eat the food we left her. One day my mom was watching as this one cat would approach our deck to eat her food that was left out. She noticed that this cat was extremely large, but very skittish. Slowly my mother worked her way up to the cat and found out that she was not just fat but was pregnant. After informing me of the pregnant stray that had been living under our shed for several months. I decided to bring the cat we named Lola, inside until she delivered the kittens. We had no idea how many kittens she was pregnant with or how long she had been pregnant. We anxiously waited for the kittens to arrive and I had done my research about what to expect. I knew the day was soon approaching when I began to feel the babies moving around and she began to get more sluggish.
My Family
Although I have already posted a few blogs about my family, I haven’t gone into detail of my life. I was born in Monroe, Louisiana on May 28th, 1993. I moved to texas when I was 8 years old, and have lived in the HEB area since then. I have a mother and a father, that have been happily married for 27 years. That is something to be proud of these days since it is not to common for parents to still be together. I have a sister, Kristin who is 28 years old and has three beautiful children, Cameron who is 8, Cayla, who is 5 and Caden who is 3. I have another sister, Katherine, who is 25 years old. She is married to her husband Chris and together they have a brilliant 2 year old named Brett, and are expecting again in October. Next in line is my brother Kory. He is 22 years old and is going to be getting married next summer to his beautiful, soon to be fiance Lauren. My family is a major part of my life and is my biggest support system. They are what get my through each and every day.
Spring Break 2012
During Spring Break, my family went on a short vacation to Galveston, Texas. While we were their, we went to Moody Gardens; viewed the Bones exhibit, went to the Rainforest exhibit, and aquarium. On our way back we stopped in Houston and went to the Space Center. Although it was a short, weekend trip, and the weather did not cooperate, we had a blast! The picture above is of my mom, dad, my two nephews, my niece and I at Moody Gardens.
My Idol..
An Idol is defined as,”someone who is greatly admired”! For me, that someone would be my older sister Katherine. My sister is someone I have looked up to for quite someone time. Katherine graduated from Stephen F. Austin University with her BSN. Since then she has worked in a hospital in Tennessee and now works at Medical City in Dallas. Katherine is a very strong willed, independent women with a lot perseverance, strength, and wisdom. Ever since I can remember, she has been my inspiration and what keeps me going when things get tough. I admire and look up to my sister in many ways then one and she continues to inspire me each and every day! If it wasn’t for my sister, I don’t know how I could make it through nursing school. I love my sister more then anything in this world and thank her so much for being such a great role model for me.
Autism Walk
On Saturday, November 12, 2012 my family and several friends (in picture above) participated in the Annual, Autism walk in Grand Prairie, Texas. We all were walking for my 8 year-old nephew, whom was recently diagnosed with a mild form of Autism. Autism is a mental condition, usually diagnosed in early childhood and mainly found in males. Their are many forms of Autism, ranging from the most severe to the least. Children with ASD are developmentally delayed, and have behavioral problems. Although Cameron was diagnosed with this disorder and struggles developmentally, he is a fun, loving, whole hearted little boy that melts the hearts of so many people. He is my world and I do not know what my family and I were to do without him in our lives.
