Yesterday, thanks to the American Marketing Association, I got the chance to meet an incredible man, Ben Lecomte. You may or may not remember Ben’s story, but he was the first man to ever swim across the Atlantic Ocean in 1998. Not only did he attempt and complete such an incredible task, but he did it all in honor of his dad, a cancer victim. Ben’s passion for cancer research has caused him to go back for another swim journey, this time across the Pacific. Starting in California, USA and ending up in Japan, this will be the first time a man is to swim across the Pacific Ocean as well. I had the pleasure of not only seeing Ben, but I also got the chance to speak with him, express my gratitude and tell him what an amazing thing it was he had accomplished, and even take a picture with him (soon to be pictured above)!
Ben’s second journey will be televised! He’s working with Doug Stanley, who you may know from the Deadliest Catch, to film this incredible journey to be called “The Longest Swim.” They are still in search of a network provider for this production, fingers crossed for ABC or NBC. But they need your help! If you would like to show your support of Ben, please go and like the fanpage: The Longest Swim and share it on your wall!
For more information, here is the website.
I would just like to thank the American Marketing Association for bringing such an amazing man to speak and inspire all of us to find what we’re passionate about and DO something about it! There’s no ONE single way to fight for a cause! How will you show YOUR support? Take a lesson from Ben. Be creative, do what you love, and fight for what you’re passionate about.
