Here’s a link to the pdf version of the US Balance of Payments thru 2009. This is an updated version of Exhibit 5.7 on page 143 of the 5331 textbook. That version stopped in 2006 and obviously there have been some changes since then…
This specific idea originally came from Third Way, but I found it through the Economist site although apparently the table graphic was copied incorrectly somehow and we should use the updated Third Way document for our discussion. It’s a great idea for anyone who appreciates data to support their ideas and it’s also good support material for our upcoming class discussion of Balance of Payments (Chapter 5).
The Australian dollar (AUD) is doing quite well recently – here’s an article that helps explain why. Sounds like a good class discussion for this next week…
As promised, here are the FINA 5331 – ch06 slides that I used in class Thursday.
I mentioned the CME Group website in the last class and I wanted to add a link to something more specific. Here is the CME Group page for EUR/USD Futures Contracts. It takes a second to refresh and show all the important data – we’ll review it briefly in class on Tuesday.
Also, here is the Wall Street Journal’s public page for Currencies. You have to scroll down to see the spot market overview, but we’ll discuss that in class as well.
Just a few brief notes about my upcoming course:
- The current MBA Cohort’s FINA 5311 class starts Saturday, 7/17 at 8:30am.
- The course syllabus is attached (FINA 5311-001 Syllabus)and enrolled students will see it in their UTA email as well.
- The course page will be available here starting next week
I hope everyone has a great summer and see you next month!
