In the song “One” by the band Metallica tell the chilling side to war for an individual and what it can do to a person. It has lyrics like “Hold my breath as I wish for death, O please God, wake me up”. As Metallica sings the song it helps our imagination understand that the soldier in the song is wounded in war and is completely immobile also blind and deaf but is unable to die. Even though the song doesn’t specify any certain war but yet it’s a great piece of work that covers one certain area of war.

The song itself brought chills to my body because it was a great reminder of the everyday struggles that a soldier must go through to defend our country and make the ultimate sacrifice of death. Listen to the song first without a visual and just imagine the pain of the soldier then watch the video that Metallica put together. It’s a great piece of video art work to show our soldiers ultimate sacrifice.
