“All things must come to an end… and be replaced with something better.” Unfortunately, Jabber or talk.uta.edu will no longer be available to faculty, staff, or students after Sunday, April 21. However, the Office of Information Technology is offering a new collaborative tool, Microsoft Teams, which not only integrates chat, but also incorporates shareable files, audio and video conferencing, notes, and calendars.

Microsoft Teams is reinventing productivity by bringing an entirely new collaborative experience through student and team interactions. It has already made a huge impact to our University as faculty continues to incorporate this innovative service inside the classrooms

It is a new revolutionary solution that will help you communicate effectively through group chats, work as a team while collaborating on files built in Office 365, and customize your workspace by adding Microsoft apps that fit your unique requirements. Here are few comments from a professor and student at The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA):

My nursing students are really enjoying the platform as it opens up such great doors of collaboration.

–  Dr. Timothy M Ponce, Internal Assessment Coordinator, Department of English / College of Liberal Arts

I love how groups can share files and be able to work on them at the same time. Also, being able to turn things in through Teams makes it a lot easier.

– Gabrielle Fritz, a student from UTA

As you discover the new collaborative features, our staff is here to provide you with a customized training and support experience. Achieve the impossible with Microsoft Teams, a new way to empower people to communicate, collaborate, and achieve more with Office 365.  If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact our IT Help Desk at 817-272-2208 or by submitting a self-service ticket.
