The Office of Information Technology has worked with CenturyLink and determined that as of August 1st, the web conferencing will no longer be available through CenturyLink. However, audio conferencing will still be available for an extended period. You will be able to manage your conference calls through the web portal.

Keeping in mind that CenturyLink will not be our teleconferencing system for the long term, it is critical that we move forward with the Teams Teleconferencing Training.

As many of you may already know from notices sent by CenturyLink, teleconferencing from CenturyLink will sunset on August 1st, 2019.  This will happen as a result of the vendor no longer being a part of the DIR resources available to the UT System. Microsoft Teams, will be our long-term replacement teleconferencing & collaboration platform; as well as the basis for our new phone system.

There is a Knowledge base article that you can use to help understand how to use Teams; as a teleconferencing system (click here for the article).

One question many have had is, “does everyone invited to a conference call have to install Teams?”
The answer is “they do not have to use Teams to be a part of a conference call.”

In addition, the OIT Knowledge Services Training & Support Team will schedule Microsoft Teams Teleconferencing classes starting next week for those of you that wish to attend an in person training session (click here for classes). These classes will be listed as a Teams Teleconferencing Course. They also train the collaborative use of Teams, and in the future they will help get the campus ready to use Teams as the basis of our new phone system.
