The University of Texas at Arlington is upgrading its wireless network to enhance user experience, allow for the support of future innovations, and to enable powerful capabilities that will be beneficial to faculty, staff, and students and the growth of the University. After the systematic upgrade of each building, faculty, staff, and students will encounter the following benefits:

  • ENHANCED CELL PHONE COVERAGE: Faculty, staff, and students can benefit from enhanced wireless coverage by enabling Wi-Fi Calling on their personal cell phone. Wi-Fi Calling allows you to talk and text across the Internet using Wi-Fi instead of your carriers’ cellular network. This is particularly useful in buildings with weak cellular service, such as basements. Please contact your phone provider ( AT&TT-MobileSprintVerizon, etc.) to see if this feature is available and if any fees or service charges are applied.
  • INCREASED CONVENIENCE AND WIFI AVAILABILITYWith nearly double the coverage from the previous wireless network, faculty, staff, and students will experience improved Wi-Fi coverage in basements, auditoriums, select outdoor spaces, and high traffic areas. Movement throughout most of the campus is now possible with no disconnects from the network
  • GROWTH FOR FUTURE INNOVATIONS: With built-in machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities, the new wireless network opens possibilities for development of new and exciting applications — like real-time navigation and self-guided campus tours.

Please note, faculty, staff, and students may be required to reconnect their devices after the wireless network is upgraded in their building by following the step-by-step instructions in the UTA Wireless Network Resource Guide.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, about the Wireless Network Upgrade, please contact the IT Help Desk at 817-272-2208, send a chat, or submit a self-service.  For more information about additional benefits to the University, visit Wireless Network Upgrade Project website
