The next-generation of protection is here for UTA-owned devices with Microsoft Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP), the new anti-virus software for The University of Texas at Arlington. With features like automatic scans to protect against spyware and real-time remediation options, Defender ATP uses the latest technology to safeguard University data and information on UTA-owned devices.

While all devices will receive this premier service, Mac users can take advantage of the latest features on Monday, December 7 as it will replace Trend Micro OfficeScan and offer the following benefits:

  • Easy removal of viruses and malware as it detects, investigates, and responds to threats or vulnerabilities
  • Safer internet surfing as it blocks users from entering phishing, untrusted, or low-reputed sites
  • Robust security protection that notifies users of any attempts to download, move, or run potential unwanted software

Faculty and staff with Windows, Linux, and remaining UTA devices will also have the opportunity to explore these benefits as those devices will be updated to Defender ATP based on the schedule listed on the project website. Defender ATP will help ensure that all UTA owned devices follow state, federal, and University policies and procedures. To learn more about Defender ATP and what to expect, please visit the frequently asked questions on the project website. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact the IT Help Desk at 817-272-2208, send a chat, or submit a self-service ticket.
