UTA’s Wi-Fi can be used to call and text.

Let’s face it, there are areas of campus where your cell service might not be so great, particularly in lower levels of buildings. The good news is that you can call and text using UTA’s Wi-Fi network. It’s called “Wi-Fi Calling” and it’s a free service from your provider that’s already on your phone. Once enabled, Wi-Fi Calling will work automatically to supplement your cell service.

Most iPhone users will go to Settings > Phone > Wi-Fi Calling and most Android users will go to Settings > Connection > Wi-Fi Calling, but the specific route might vary depending on your phone model. Also, you may have to agree to terms and conditions, or encounter the option to update your emergency address for 911 calls. The process should remain simple but we’ve linked resources below in case you have any trouble.
