Project Update – Jan. 2018

As the web modernization program continues this spring, we wanted to provide an update on how the project is progressing and what you can expect as Points of Contact (POCs) for this program.

Meetings

Monthly meetings will be scheduled with the POCs to provide updates on the project as well as opportunities for feedback and discussion. Please watch for meeting invites in the next few weeks.

Assign an Advocate

Each college or department has been asked to identify a Project Advocate, a person who can help ensure a successful migration for the unit’s web properties. The Project Advocate must be a decision maker in your college or department, as well as be at the senior leadership level. This person may or may not be you. We look forward to welcoming the Project Advocates over the coming weeks.

Contract

The contract with the implementation partner is being finalized. However, due to a protracted procurement process, the contract will not be signed in January as planned, which will have downstream effects on the rest of the timeline. Once the contract is signed, we will provide a revised timeline estimate.

Discovery Meetings

The initial discovery meetings with the vendor are now targeted for March. These meetings will provide an opportunity for the vendor to gather feedback from the colleges and departments, and will be scheduled as soon as the contract has been finalized. However, there are other meetings related to this project that are currently ongoing, including the Journey Mapping project led by Karen Kusler, which is focused on understanding the pathways that certain personas take when using the current website. This portion of the project is almost complete. Thank you to all who have provided input and feedback for this phase.

We will continue to post updates to the website redesign project website, uta.edu/redesign, and we welcome any questions or suggestions at webredesignteam@uta.edu or via this anonymous survey.

Project Advocates

Please email WebRedesignTeam@uta.edu  with the senior-level project advocates from your college or department.

  • Must be a project advocate
  • Must understand marketing needs & target audiences to attract
  • Must be an effective change agent
  • Must be committed to removing obstacles
  • Must be a decision-maker within the college
  • Must be at a senior leadership level within the college

We want to ensure going forward that the team has the authority to make decisions and remove barriers. The POC’s and Project Advocates may be the same individual. If they are not, please provide an updated contact that we can work collaboratively with on this project.

Identifying points of contact

We’re working with each dean, vice-president, and unit head to identify point of contacts as liaisons to work with the Web project team.

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) will post updates and timeline.
