I am a theoretical linguist with a specific interest in syntax and its interfaces with phonology and semantics. Broadly,
the topics of my research involve argument structure, clause structure and word order. My most recent work has focussed on issues relating the effects of specificity on the distribution of objects; and prosodic/phonological facts driving word order. The empirical basis for most of my research has focussed on Tagalog, and I have a strong interest in Austronesian languages more generally. I am aslo interested in less-familiar types of filler-gap dependencies, such as those exemplified by Right-Node-Raising constructions (where gaps precede rather than follow their antecedents).
