Sanjiv Sabherwal received a Ph.D. in Finance from Georgia Institute of Technology, an MBA from the University of Miami, and a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi. He joined the Department of Finance and Real Estate at the College of Business at UT Arlington in 2004. He earlier served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Rhode Island and also taught finance at Georgia Institute of Technology. Prior to his Ph.D., he worked at an international management consulting firm, and contributed to projects sponsored by international funding institutions, such as the World Bank and the Danish International Development Agency.

Dr. Sabherwal’s research focuses on issues in international finance, corporate finance, and investments in information technology. He publishes research articles in journals such as the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Financial Management, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Financial Review, Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, and Decision Sciences. He has also co-authored a textbook on international finance. His research activities have led to several recognitions, including research awards at UT Arlington and the best research article awards at journals.

Dr. Sabherwal’s teaching interests include international finance, financial modeling, investments, and financial management. At UT Arlington, he received the Billy W. Turner Memorial Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching in 2006-07 and the Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award in 2007-08, and was inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Teachers in 2012. He was nominated by the College of Business at UT Arlington for the 2013-14 and 2019-20 Piper Professor Award. He received the 2015 UT System Board of Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award.
